LL.B (3 Year Degree Course)

OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAM

In India, legal education has been traditionally offered as a 3 Year degree course conferring the title of LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws). However the legal education system was revised by the Bar Council of India, the governing body of legal education in India in 1984. Pursuant thereto, various autonomous law schools were established that administer a five-year (5 year) undergraduate degree program and confer an integrated honours degree, such as “B.LS, LL.B Both the degrees (i.e., Three-Year and Five-Year integrated honours) are recognized and considered as qualifying degrees for practice of legal profession in India. A holder of either type of degree may approach a Bar Council of any State of India and get upon compliance with the necessary standards, be enrolled on the rolls of the said Bar Council of India. The process of enrollment confers a licence to the holder to practise before any court in India and give legal advice. The entire procedure of enrollment and post-enrollment professional conduct is regulated and supervised by the Bar Council of India and CET Commission. CET Examination is compulsory for the students desiring to pursue law.

The College offers a 3 Year degree course and a 5 Year Degree Course. CET Examinations need to be attended by students in order to secure an admission in the law college. The course consists of six(6) semesters for 3 Year Course and ten (10) semesters for 5 Year Degree Course. On the successful completion of the respective course, the student is eligible for the LL.B degree which shall be awarded by the University of Mumbai. If a student desires to pursue the study of law for the sake of pure knowledge, but does not wish to practice as an advocate, he is eligible for the LL.B (General) Degree at the end of the 2nd year of 5-year LL.B Course.

LL.B. – (3 YEARS) DEGREE COURSE

• Admission is strictly on merit basis. Admission for 3 year degree course in Law can be taken after passing graduation or equivalent form in discipline (Passing requirement is Minimum 45 % and above If the candidate belongs to reserve category the minimum required percentage is 40% be taken after completion of graduation from any discipline (Passing requirement is Minimum 45 % and above If the candidate belongs to S.C. ,S.T. minimum required percentage is 40%.
• Eligibility criteria is subject to Mumbai University Guidelines and Bar Council of India.
• Pre-admission online registration at http://mum.digitaluniversity.ac is compulsory.

At the time of admission the students will have to produce their respective 10th, 12th and graduation mark sheet along with their respective photocopies (3 sets). If the interested student does not belong to Maharashtra state he has to produce his domicile certificate. The other documents include CET Score Card, Hall Ticket, Optional Form, Gap Certificate, Caste Certificate and Caste Verification Certificate.
